Brian spent Friday evening and most of Saturday planting three trees and a few shrubs. Two of the trees have really pretty fall color (you can tell by their names: October Glory and Autumn Applause), and we'll be glad for the shade in future summers.
We thought it would be interesting to have these pictures in the years to come. If we still live in this house in ten, fifteen, or twenty years, both Kate and the tree will be a lot bigger!
Below -- Kate and her dad. His back is pretty sore today from all the digging! This tree was really big, and it took both of us to roll it into the hole Brian dug.

Ah, be careful what you ask for. We've got shade - in the form of 22 trees in the front and back. Beautiful and summer days are perfect. But, oh the raking. That little guy should be fine for now, though. : )
