The life of a stay at home mom: even license plates are interesting

Brian and I got our new license plates, which have been redesigned for 2008. In most states, maybe this is no big deal, but this is the state that had an uproar when the phrase "Back home again" removed in favor of the state web address.

Anyway, so the redesign kills my favorite car trip game. For those out-of-staters -- as long as I can remember Indiana license plates have had prefixes corresponding to the county (ie 71 = St. Joseph, 20 = Elkhart, etc.). So if you saw a license plate with a 11 as the first two numbers, it was always fun to guess which county it might be. Okay, dorky game, but point is, they have removed those prefixes and put the number and county name together on the plate above the number. Kind of a bummer. On the plus, they are a little nicer looking.

I used to confuse Jeff when I'd say, "That car's from Elkhart County", until I explained the numbering system. I always thought it was fun to guess too. :-)

Stumbled across your blog.

Would love for you to submit a link on my most recent post about being a SAHM. I think you would be a big encouragement to other mothers!

In case you were wondering, #11 is Clay County...

I always liked to do that too! In fact, whenever I see an Indiana tag here I always check to see if I recognize the county number.

Alabama still uses the number system for the counties. I think the numbers go in order of the county size.
