Surreal Anniversary

This past weekend was our 12th (and presumably last, due to our pending divorce) wedding anniversary. My mom happened to be in town from Florida. So, I traded one of my regularly scheduled evenings with the kids so they could visit with my mom and family. Ironically, my family wound up having dinner at Essenhaus (the location of our wedding reception, minus Angela this time). The nice thing is, it didn't mean a thing to the kids, who really enjoyed playing with their cousin at the grounds there.

"Horsing around" a wagon...
With Grandma before dinner...

The kids also really enjoyed the wishing well, making lots of fun silly wishes such as for no homework, no bills ever, a long and happy life, a horse, etc. Reminded me of happier times when we had such hopes and dreams for a family...

Sadly, those are quite the contrast with the state of affairs at our divorce settlement conference last Friday. What a loaded weekend! I guess we can only move forward...What doesn't kill us makes us stronger... Change is life... blah, blah, blah. :)
